Community — Environmental Relationships in the Benthos: Applications of Multivariate Analytical Techniques
Marine benthic organisms and communities have commonly been used as a focus of monitoring programs and of research into the effects of human activities in the marine environment. Such activities include disposal of wastewater, sewage, sludge, and dredged materials; drilling for oil and natural gas; and construction activities in the nearshore zone. Benthic organisms are often affected by such activities, since this habitat serves as a major sink for such disposed materials.
