Abstract
The peritoneal cavity may be studied by both radiographic techniques (peritoneography) and radionuclide scintigraphy (peritoneoscintigraphy). Although the radiographic studies offer higher resolution images, the radionuclide studies offer a simple procedure that, in the appropriate situation, answers the clinical question while using a potentially less toxic and more physiologic intraperitoneal agent.
