Abstract

Although the great apes are considered the species of primate that show the greatest structural similarity to human beings during the implantation stage, early stages are available only from the chimpanzee (1). Furthermore, the most informative implantation site was described originally over 50 years ago (2). Since the possibility of obtaining more than one or two additional specimens is remote, the information on the chimpanzee is not very useful. Whether considering periimplantation signaling (3) or morphological development, the only meaningful comparisons are between species that have been studied more extensively.
