Abstract

This chapter covers the key topics in elective adult foot and ankle orthopaedics. Degenerative change in the ankle and great toe joint, and Achilles tendon and tibialis posterior tendon dysfunction are common problems, as are the effects of diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis in the foot. These pathologies and treatment options are dealt with here with up-to-date references. The common deformity of hallux valgus and the less common, but challenging, cavovarus foot are also considered. References are presented which help to understand the pathology, treatment and outcomes.
