Selected References in Trauma and Orthopaedics

Abstract

This section covers fractures and associated ligamentous injuries to the ankle, hindfoot and mid-foot/forefoot junction (the Lisfranc injuries). Particular consideration is given to the current understanding of ankle instability and the treatment options. The up-to-date understanding of the talar blood supply helps to make sense of the management and outcome of talar fractures. The controversy over the value of operative fixation of calcaneal fractures continues, but some recent studies shed light on this.
