Abstract

This chapter discusses issues of non-large joint surgery, mainly knee arthroscopy and ligamentous knee injuries, and what to do in regard to prevention of venous thromboembolism in these patients. Events, if they occur, can be costly, associated with poor outcomes and, even in rare instances, death. The purpose of this chapter is to raise one’s awareness of this complication as well as to assess risk stratification and decrease the occurrence of DVT in this orthopedic population.
