Abstract
The extracellular matrix (ECM) provides a scaffold for appropriate threedimensional cell assembly. It supports tissue formation and remodeling as well as cell functions, such as division, differentiation, and apoptosis. The extracellular matrix produced by cells serves as a binding medium.
