Abstract
For a more detailed, quantitative treatment of electrophoresis see [60, 428]. Simulations for electrophoretic experiments are available on the web (http://www.rit.edu/~pac8612/electro/E_Sim.html or http://www.jvirgel.de/).

Notes
- 1.
Urea destroys agarose secondary structure and hence cannot be used in agarose gels.
- 2.
Microwave radiation can accelerate many lab procedures, and they do so independent from their heating effect. This requires low wattage ovens ( < 100W, “cold microwave”) with accurate temperature control. Incubation times may be reduced by 90% and more.
