Abstract
Knowledge management (KM) and organizational learning (OL) are attracting increasing attention from both academics and practitioners in the knowledge economy era. Recognizing the dynamics of KM research, organizational knowledge from a capability-based perspective is advocated as an essential force to aid a firm’s growth. Learning embedded in organizational activities is viewed as a knowledge process that facilitates innovation. In this study, we take organizational knowledge capability (OKC) and process-oriented OL as the two primary research variables. Additionally, we consider OKC as a socio-technical system and divide it into social-based OKC and technical-based OKC, which tries to assist the development of process-oriented OL. Our objective is to construct a relationship between OKC and OL. Specifically, we propose a conceptual model that shows the KM–OL link, and advance research propositions for future empirical testing.
