Abstract
Enterprise Manager (EM) is Oracle’s graphical user interface (GUI) product for monitoring and administering an Oracle software environment. The first version of the Enterprise Manager family took the form of a Microsoft Windows client-based application installed on the DBA’s PC. The second version was implemented as a Java-client application, installable on a number of operating systems, including Linux. Version 2 of EM supported Oracle databases up to release 9.2 and could operate in a stand-alone mode or with a Management Service and a Management Repository database for more advanced installations. However, version 2 could only recognize Oracle9i RAC environments when operating with a Management Service and Management Repository configuration. In standalone mode, all cluster instances were identified as single-instance installations.
