Abstract
This chapter describes the steps required to install the Linux software operating system for the Oracle Database 10g RAC. The emphasis is placed on the Red Hat and SUSE Linux releases supported by Oracle under the Unbreakable Linux Partner Initiative and therefore you should review Chapter 2 to ensure that the benefits and restrictions of deciding to use an Unbreakable Linux platform are fully understood. The installation process is covered for the standard hardware platforms supported by Oracle under Unbreakable Linux, namely x86, x86-64, and Intel Itanium. The installation steps described in this chapter should be performed identically on each node in the cluster.
