The paper presents (i) historical earthquake damage and lessons learned (ii) how to strengthen tall reinforced concrete fragile buildings in central Bucharest, (iii) international projects for seismic risk reduction in Romania and (iv) the current challenges involved in conserving historical buildings in the center of Bucharest.
