The Genus Eretmocerus

The genus Eretmocerus includes 65 nominal species; undoubtedly there are innumerable undescribed species as well. All Eretmocerus species known are primary parasites of whitefly, and many nominal and undescribed species are known to attack Bemisia. This chapter discusses systematics and taxonomy, species introduced into the USA to attack Bemisia biotype B, naturally occurring species, utilization in biological control, possible competition for host resources between introduced and naturally occurring species, and the use of non-Bemisia whitefly to monitor for possible non-target effects.
