Abstract
Having reviewed the key components of the research process in Chapters 3–5, we return to the main topic introduced in Chapters 1 and 2, the evaluation of research reports. Porterfield and Gibb’s study will first be analysed in detail, then the studies by Lacey and Goode will be considered more briefly. In the last section a general strategy is developed for deciphering research reports which are based on quantitative data.
