Abstract

Diagnostic aspiration in suspected septic arthritis and crystal arthropathy. Diagnostic injection of local anesthetic may be helpful in determining the source of pain where multiple joints in the ankle and hindfoot are affected by arthritis. Degenerative or inflammatory arthritis of the ankle joint that has failed to respond to conservative measures and for suspected infection.
