Abstract
Working with families who are experiencing major life stressors can be particularly challenging – to the therapist! How many times have you developed a fabulous treatment plan after an intake session, only to never see the family again? How many times have you stayed late at the office to see an emergency client who did not show up to his or her session? How many times have you worked tirelessly with a family who did not seem committed themselves? All therapists have wanted to throw up their hands at one point and call it a day.
