Abstract
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDA) and its variants comprise, 85% to 90% of all pancreatic cancers. It is usually a disease of older individuals and affected patients are often in their seventh to eighth decades of life. The disease is uncommon in patients 40 years or younger and men are affected slightly more frequently than women. The classic clinical symptomatic triad includes epigastric pain with radiation to the back, jaundice, and weight loss. Unfortunately, these findings are nonspecific and can occur in patients with other malignancies or benign diseases, such as gallstones. In addition, many patients only have minimal or vague symptoms when the disease is still curable and in the early stage, especially when it arises in the body or tail of the pancreas.
