Haemoglobin and myoglobin: co-operativity

Abstract

Haemoglobin is the most abundant protein in mammals, an adult male contains about 1 kg of it, equivalent to 3.5 g iron, about 80% of the total iron in our body. Haemoglobin concentration in erythrocyte cytosol is 34% by weight.
