Abstract
Transition-metal complexes have enabled the effective activation of Si-Si bonds, having led to the synthetic utilization of new, reactive organisilyl transition-metal species thus generated. Recent detailed investigations on this subject have shed new light on application on the basis of the activation for efficient synthesis of useful organosilicon compounds. This chapter describes the stoichiometric and catalytic generation of organosilyl transition-metal complexes through the activation of the Si-Si bonds with emphasis on the catalytic reactions of organodisilanes mediated by transition-metal complexes. The application of these catalytic reactions to organic synthesis is also mentioned briefly.
