Abstract

This paper presents the main characteristics of an approach that can be used to model temporal information found in discourses. It extends Sowa's conceptual graph approach thanks to the introduction of the notion of time coordinate systems in the form of agents' perspectives and temporal localizations. The model may represent several types of temporal situations (events, processes, states and several sub-categories) which are related together and linked with temporal perspectives and localizations by means of temporal relations. We concentrate here on the representation of speech acts, anaphoric references, deictics, oblique contexts, sentence markers and subordinate sentences. We also provide a brief comparison with Sowa's approach.
