Abstract

This chapter presents the endovascular interventional approaches for treating arterial lesions in a variety of clinical scenarios. These include investigation and treatment for upper limb ischaemia (both acute and chronic), arterial trauma, arterial compromise due to thoracic outlet syndrome and aneurysmal disease. Typically, noninvasive imaging techniques are used to guide which of the endovascular techniques are required and when different devices and techniques should be used. Endovascular approaches are generally less invasive than conventional surgical techniques and the results of using endovascular techniques are presented from the available published literature. The use of these endovascular techniques continues to increase as the potential benefits in terms of morbidity and mortality compared to conventional open surgery are increasingly recognised.
