Abstract

Sliding mode control (SMC) is well known for its ease of implementation and the reduction of the system’s order during the sliding motion. It is perhaps better known for its ability to completely compensate for external disturbances and model uncertainties satisfying the so-called matching condition. In order to further robustify against unmatched disturbances the main strategy has been the combination of sliding mode control with other robust techniques [1–4].
