12. Summary
Software as a service is important to enterprises not only to build internal systems but also to extend the enterprise to partners, suppliers and consumers. As services allow applications to become modular, and access to domains outside of administrative control, traditional issues that require operational attention become even more challenging. Services in this model must have a comprehensive management strategy required for profitable operation of the business. Management of services includes the entire service value chain and collecting information about the health and availability of services. All of these requirements can be accomplished in a vendor-neutral manner.
