Abstract
Among recent scientific and technological developments two of them stand out and have significant potential for contributing to cyberspace security and defense. These two developments are: theory of large scale-free networks developed in the last decade and quantum cryptography which is rapidly maturing and soon may be ready for implementation. The paper explains why these two developments deserve special attention and further study.
