Conclusion
Full evaluation of the abdomen and pelvis are an integral component of any abdominal surgery, and this is easily performed laparoscopically. The limitations related to lack of direct tactile sensation are more than compensated by the advances in technology including magnified videoscopes which allow for enhanced visualization, ability to maneuver throughout the abdomen and pelvis, and laparoscopic ultrasound.
