Concluding Comments
While not all school psychologists will be prepared to diagnose a specific autism spectrum disorder, it will not be surprising to find most involved in some way in the diagnostic process. This reality, combined with the fact that hearing officers often consider DSM IV-TR diagnostic criteria, emphasizes the importance for all educators (and, in particular, school psychologists) to be informed about diagnostic procedures.
