Abstract
The concave shielding of the active site of an enzyme is one of the causes of the high selectivity of enzymatic reactions. Therefore we have taken this geometry and accordingly have synthesized Concave Reagents [1,2] Like a light bulb in a lampshade, the functional group of a Concave Reagent (the tool) is located in the centre of a bimacrocyclic molecule.

The terms general and specific protonation are used in the same sense as general and specific acid catalysis. See: Maskill, H. (1993) The Physical Basis of Organic Chemistry, Oxford University press, New York. See also [11]).
