Because jarrah is the dominant tree on the lateritic gravels of the Northern Jarrah Forest (Chapter 1) aspects of its biology are considered in this chapter. Some of the morphological, botanical and timber characteristics are described, and the seasonal growth of the major organs is discussed, followed by sections on reproduction, growth and mortality. Further data are available in Abbott & Loneragan (1986).
