Abstract
Reptiles first appear in the Mississipian (upper Paleozoic) during the history of the earth. They are the ancestral stock of mammals and birds. The mammals appeared before the birds in the Triassic (Mesozoic) and the birds followed as the last group of vertebrates in the Jurassic (Mesozoic). Reptiles are therefore phylogenetically an important group in regard to the last diversification of the vertebrates. Neoplasms of mesozoic reptiles were described by R.L. Moodie (30).
