Samenvatting
Hartrevalidatie is een multidisciplinaire behandeling, gericht op fysiek en psychosociaal herstel bij hartpatiënten. Traditionele doelgroepen waarbij het effect van hartrevalidatie al in de jaren 90 van de vorige eeuw werd aangetoond, zijn patiënten na een acuut coronair syndroom (hartinfarct, instabiele angina pectoris), patiënten na een bypass en/of hartklepoperatie en patiënten na een acute dotterbehandeling. In de laatste jaren is aangetoond dat hartrevalidatie ook zeer effectief is bij patiënten met cardiovasculaire aandoeningen met een chronischer karakter, zoals stabiele angina pectoris en chronisch hartfalen. Omdat deze aandoeningen vaak geassocieerd zijn met langdurig risicogedrag, is medicamenteuze behandeling - al dan niet aangevuld met invasieve interventies - vaak onvoldoende voor verbetering van leefstijl en prognose. Andere doelgroepen waarbij er groeiend bewijs is voor het nut van hartrevalidatie, zijn patiënten met congenitale hartaandoeningen, patiënten na ICD-implantatie en na percutane aortaklepimplantatie.
