Abstract

The presented research is based on the on-site geometrical measurements analysis related to conservation works of the canvas “Adoration of the Magi” carried out in the Saint Aubain cathedral in Namur (Belgium). The paper presents considerations related to geometrical modeling of the painting shape based on 3D point cloud measurements and experimental and theoretical analysis of fundamentals of stretching of large curvilinear canvas. The considerations can be extended to multi-surface curvilinear canvas paintings.
