Abstract

It has been proposed that contamination of rivers in Northwest England with Campylobacter is largely caused by agricultural activities1,4,5,6. This project is an investigation of the part played by run-off from farms in contaminating streams and rivers with Campylobacter and the relationship between the numbers obtained for Campylobacter and the indicators, faecal streptococci and faecal coliforms.
