Abstract

Multinucleated cells and polyploid cells appear widely in liver, salivary glands, and other mammalian organs. In liver, the multi-nucleation and polyploidization of hepatocytes are the functions of development, nutrition, regeneration and aging (1,2,3,4). A schematic genealogy of cells has been proposed for the development of multinucleation and polyploidization in rodent liver (2).
