Abstract

Simply stated, androgens are essential for normal penile development. However, the exact molecular mechanisms by which androgens affect the formation of the penis remain largely unknown. In this chapter, we will review the embryology of the penis and our current, but limited, understanding of the role of androgens in the development of the penis.
