Abstract
Highly excited states in 9Li are sought in missing mass spectra measured in the stopped pion absorption reaction 11B(π−, dt)X. Observed for the first time in the two-particle reaction π− + 11B → d + 9Li* was a highly excited 9Li state with E x = 12.0 ± 0.5 MeV that decayed with the emission of a triton.
