Abstract

Most human tumors, including colon-cancer tumors, develop in elderly people. One of the significant mutations that cause the development of malignant colon tumors is an activating mutation in the K-ras oncogene. The present study reports the results of a frequency analysis for this mutation in different age groups of colorectal cancer patients in northwest Russia and the connection between this mutation and the most significant clinical factors.
