Abstract

The application of electrocatalytic methods for biomass conversion into petrochemicals is considered. In contrast to chemical processing of inedible plant oils and their conversion products (fatty acids and their esters) into petrochemicals, electrocatalytic transformations are usually one-stage processes characterized by high yields and selectivity. The effects of the nature of the electrode catalyst, the electrode potential, and the solvent on the formation of diverse products, their yields, and the corresponding selectivity are analyzed.
