Abstract

Electrochemical oxidative polymerization of o-phenylenediamine on a carbon fiber anode under potentiostatic conditions was studied. Deposition of poly(o-phenylenediamine) on the carbon fiber surface was proved by scanning electron microscopy and IR spectroscopy. The electrodeposition of poly(o-phenylenediamine) on the carbon fiber surface enhances the strength of carbon-fiber-reinforced composite materials with epoxy matrix.
