Solid contact [AuCl4]-selective electrode and its application for evaluation of gold(III) in solutions

Abstract

An ion-selective electrode (ISE) for measurement of [AuCl4] anions based on tetradecylammonium tetrachloroaurate(III) in a polyvinyl chloride matrix deposited on a solid graphite-polyvinylchloride composition was developed. Its characteristics such as stability of the electrode potential, linear region of the electrode function and its slope, and the limit of detection were determined. The effect of HCl and KCl concentrations on the characteristics of the ISE were studied to select the optimum measurement conditions. The developed electrode was used to estimate the conditional solubility product of some soluble compounds containing [AuCl4].
