Steam reforming of ethanol, C
2H 5OH+H 2O→2CO+4H 2, was carried out over Co/Al 2O 3, Co/SiO 2, Co/MgO, Co/ZrO 2 and Co/C. The properties of the Co catalysts were greatly affected by the supports. Co/Al 2O 3 exhibited the highest selectivity for steam reforming of ethanol by suppression of methanation of CO and decomposition of ethanol.
