Abstract

Scenedesmus quadricauda (1.5 x 10 cells/ml) grown in myxotrophic conditions reduced in good yields (>63%) exogenous adrenosterone to 11-ketotestosterone. Cultures preadapted on glucose, saccharose or starch (10 mg/l) biotransformed about 80% of adrenosterone (100 mg/l) in seven days. Almost quantitative yields of bioconversion were afforded at higher algal biomass.
