At our annual dinner with the JASMS Editors and Editorial Board members, the ASMS Board of Directors, and Springer representatives that we attend during the ASMS Conference (held in Vancouver, Canada in May 2012), we congratulated Professors Richard Cole (formerly at the University of New Orleans, and now at Université Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris, France) and Victor Ryzhov (Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, IL) as our top performing reviewers for 2011–2012. These most outstanding reviewers provided excellent service to the journal by accepting more than their fair share of manuscript review requests, providing high quality reviewer comments, and submitting their reviews in a timely manner. The hard work of our reviewers such as Richard and Victor have helped to reduce our average time for review of the initially submitted manuscripts from 6.7 weeks in 2004–2005 to an all-time low of 4.5 weeks in 2011–2012.

Manuscript reviewers help the journal to ensure that published work meets certain criteria and help to improve the quality of the overall manuscript. JASMS’ impact factor reached an all-time high of 4.002 for 2011, and this achievement was certainly in part due to the effort of our reviewers. As always, we are indebted to all authors and reviewers for continuing to support JASMS.
