Abstract

Here we report development of 44 gene-based SNP markers in Zhikong scallop (Chlamys farreri) using high resolution melting (HRM) assays. HRM analysis revealed that these loci were polymorphic among 48 individuals from five natural populations. Further genetic evaluation using 48 individuals from Qingdao population showed that all loci had two alleles and the minor allele frequency ranged from 0.052 to 0.500. The expected and observed heterozygosities ranged from 0.100 to 0.505 and from 0.104 to 0.875, respectively. Four loci were found to depart significantly from Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium and significant linkage disequilibrium was detected in one pair of markers. To our knowledge, this is the first report of development of SNP markers in Zhikong scallop. These markers should be useful for evaluation of genetic diversity in cultured stock and wild populations of Zhikong scallop.
