Abstract
The article relays the literature on cooperative as well as confrontational relations between NGOs and business actors that have been intensifying since the 1990s. On the one hand, this research is devoted to analyzing the influence of civil society activities on corporations and their strategic choices. On the other hand, genuine interactions between NGOs and business are a central theme in research on new forms of governance. One issue that only receives limited attention so far concerns the impact of these interactions on governance beyond the state.
