It is with great pleasure that I introduce Current Psychology’s 2nd Special Issue. Much like the 1st Special Issue, a call went out for ideas and possible Guest Editor’s and we are lucky to have Dr. Anthony (Tony) Hermann from Bradley University is the Guest Editor for this exciting special Issue on narcissism. A total of 7 papers have been assembled and cover topics as diverse as the Dark Triad, to Grandiose Narcissism to the prosocial motives and behaviors of narcissists. Tony is a social psychologist who serves on the Editorial Board of Current Psychology and is well-versed in the literature in this field. These papers, both theoretical as well as empirical, offer up new insights into what drives the narcissistic personality and how this manifests itself in everyday life. These papers are especially relevant today as many critics of our current culture, as well as cross-sectional studies, suggest that people are becoming more narcissistic in their dealings with themselves as well as with other people across a wide variety of contexts (work, home, school, etc.). This collection of papers will shed some much needed light on this complex topic, illuminating both the good and the bad aspects of the narcissistic personality.
