Yves Chauvel has been with France Telecom R&D for more than 15 years, researching telematic terminals and services (facsimile, videotex, ODA, messaging systems, and protocols). He has been deeply involved in related standardization activity at the European and global levels. He has also been with the ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) Secretariat since its creation in 1988, where he manages funded activities and provides liaison on public interest related issues with EC and EFTA. Adam Moore is an assistant professor of philosophy at Eastern Michigan University and is the author of Intellectual Property and Information Control: Philosophic Foundations and Contemporary Issues (Transaction, 2001); “Owning Genetic Information and Gene Enhancement Techniques” (Bioethics 14, April 2000); “Privacy and the Encryption Debate” (KT&P 12, Winter 2000). He is currently working on a new book entitled Privacy: Cultural and Philosophical Dimensions. He may be reached at 〈admoore@mediaone.net〉.

His books include Higher Superstition (with Paul Gross) and Prometheus Bedeviled. He was an organizer of the recent “Science, Knowledge, and Humanity” conference in New York.

His current research interests are in small business development and networking; and the transfer of knowledge and innovation in international joint ventures operating in the transformation economies of Europe and south-east Asia.
