This is a well-written book by Dr. Asim F. Choudhri. All the chapters including the appendices have been written meticulously by the same author.

The book covers brain imaging in detail with 15 chapters on it and smaller segments on head and neck and spine imaging, comprising 7 and 5 chapters respectively. The book begins with a chapter on imaging techniques, which describes the various cross-sectional modalities, their advantages and disadvantages, including basic concepts on various MR sequences, which can be of great help to practicing clinicians.

The book offers relevant concise text and images of excellent quality of the common clinical cases encountered in day-to-day practice. It covers typical radiological findings of most of these clinical scenarios. However, atypical imaging findings in these common cases as well as uncommon clinical scenarios will need a more extensive reference.

The author has used illustrative diagrams for clarification on certain diseases, e.g., the section on posterior fossa cystic lesions which explains the Dandy walker spectrum and its various differential diagnoses with detailed illustrations.

Useful appendices are included at the end of the book. The appendix on protocols for imaging is written very methodically and can be handy to the referring physicians. The appendix on reporting templates of common clinical cases can be especially useful to radiology residents.

To summarise, the book caters to the needs of practicing pediatricians, pediatric neurologists and neurologists especially the residents who can use it for a quick reference on typical radiological findings of common clinical cases. The book does not intend to replace the more comprehensive reference books for detailed study.
