Abstract
Hepatic metastases affect many patients with colorectal cancer. Resection remains the first choice for treatment, but many patients do not have disease amenable to resection or are physically unable to undergo an operation. Radiofrequency ablation is a viable option for patients who cannot undergo resection. Effective destruction of tumors can be achieved with minimal complications or risk of death. Emerging technologies may complement or supplant radiofrequency ablation as a means of thermal tumor destruction.
