Firstly, we would like to thank Prof. Deitel, Dr. Kular, and Prof. Chevallier for their comments on the controversy on renaming mini-gastric bypass (MGB). From the letter, we could identify several names of this procedure, so it is easy to get confused from the society. The purpose of renaming is to unify the names and make it easier to be identified in scientific publications or communications. For the scientific committee, “single-anastomosis” seems to be more favorable, so it is used for the topic of the upcoming postgraduate course in Montreal. And this might be a chance for the society to raise a discussion about which one of them we are going to use.

The MGB procedure has been used increasingly worldwide. There are still controversies on many aspects of this procedure. One of the most important purposes of this invited review is to make a comprehensive review of this procedure on a scientific base.
