Zusammenfassung
Organisationsentwicklung und der Einsatz digitaler Medien in der Schule wurden bislang vornehmlich als zwei voneinander unabhängige Prozesse betrachtet. Dabei spielen Koordinations- und Abstimmungsmechanismen zwischen Schule und Schulbehörden sowie innerhalb der Schule aufgrund der Komplexität digitaler Medien eine wesentliche Rolle, wenn ein unterrichtsintegrierter Einsatz erreicht werden soll. Mit dem Vergleich der organisatorischen Einbettung digitaler Medien im Schulsystem dreier Länder (Deutschland, USA und Großbritannien) konnten Bedingungen bestimmt werden. die für eine nachhaltige pädagogisch-didaktische Nutzung von Bedeutung sind. Nur durch ein Zusammenspiel von Organisations-, Personal- und Unterrichtsentwicklung auf der einen Seite und durch technisch-organisatorische Maßnahmen (IT-Management) zur dauerhaften Sicherung des Betriebs und der Funktionsfähigkeit der IT-Infrastruktur auf der anderen Seite lässt sich eine nachhaltige Gestaltung und Implementierung digitaler Medien in die Organisation Schule erreichen.

Digital Media in School Systems: Organisational embedment in Germany, the USA and the United Kingdom
Until now, new digital Media in schools and organisational reform have been treated as independent processes or only loosely linked in educational research. The co-ordination processes within schools and between schools, school districts and state departments of education are the major focus in this article. Using “organisational embeddedness” as a theoretical framework, the educational systems in three countries (Germany, United States and United Kingdom) are compared. This leads to main organisational factors which have to be taken into account, when new digital media shall play a sustaining role in educational change. The Technology Plan which is already compulsory in the U.S. and the U.K. is proposed as a coordinating instrument leading to a more structured and long-term educational reform process for the implementation and use of new digital media.
